SFB members review the multilayered transcriptional regulation of interferon-responsive genes
Interferon-induced genes are one of the best-studied family of genes regulated by a variety of cellular responses to infection, inflammation, stress and differentiation cues. Our review summarizes the current view how JAK-STAT signaling and its crosstalk to additional pathways responding to immunological stimuli move the machinery of transcription from homeostatic to stimulated activity. Next generation technologies provide insights into the many layers of transcriptional regulation and decipher how cell-type specific transcriptomes change with pathogen-induced innate and adaptive immunity.
